Roles and Responsibilities:
- The Trackman position entails heavy, manual labor and is an intensive job. Trackmen work outside in all weather conditions to repair and maintain the tracks.
- Involves heavy lifting (i.e. lifting 20-50 lb. steel plates and throwing them into piles, etc.).
- Trackmen travel to wherever repairing of track is needed.
- Long distance travel may be required. Assignments may require overnight lodging.
- Travel and lodging are reimbursed according to contractual agreement.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A Valid Driver’s License.
- Manual labor experience.
- Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50lbs).
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- Ability to travel throughout all of NJ TRANSIT’s territory.
- CDL A or B preferred.
- Equipment experience (cranes, backhoes, forklifts, etc.) preferred.
Work Location:
- Various – Trackmen must be willing and able to travel throughout all of NJ TRANSIT’s territory which includes areas throughout the state of New Jersey, certain areas in NY (Penn Station, Spring Valley, and Port Jervis), and Morrisville, PA.
